Key takeaways
  • MEXC's User Agreement, last updated 29 May 2025, names 13 Prohibited Jurisdictions: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Sudan and the Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine.
  • Countries under comprehensive EU or US sanctions and those on the FATF blacklist are excluded as well, and MEXC can extend the list at any time.
  • MEXC is leaving the Netherlands: Dutch users are offboarded in four batches, and open futures positions are closed at fair price from 24 October 2026.
  • In Germany BaFin warned in October 2023 that MEXC offers financial services without authorisation, and in France mexc.com has been on the AMF crypto blacklist since June 2024.
  • A false location can cost you the account: the agreement lets MEXC terminate it immediately and liquidate open positions.

"Is MEXC available in my country?" has two answers: the one in MEXC's User Agreement, and the one from the regulator where you live. This guide quotes the agreement, then goes through the countries where the answer changed recently, including a full wind-down in the Netherlands that completes on 31 October 2026.

Which countries does MEXC restrict?

MEXC does not provide services or accept registrations from 13 named jurisdictions. The MEXC User Agreement, last updated on 29 May 2025, lists North Korea, Cuba, Sudan, Iran, Mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, the Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine and Canada.

Two more groups sit behind that list: any country or territory under comprehensive economic or trade sanctions from the EU or the US Treasury's OFAC, and any country on the FATF "Call for Action" blacklist. The agreement calls the list non-exclusive and says MEXC can change it at any time. The US case has its own guide: Is MEXC available in the US?

MEXC is leaving the Netherlands

MEXC is winding down its services for users in the Netherlands, citing regulatory developments in the European Economic Area. According to the official announcement, affected accounts are offboarded in four batches, and each user was told their batch by email. From a user's restriction date there are no new trades, positions or subscriptions, and withdrawals should be done before it.

The last batch has to act by 23 October 2026, its restrictions start on 24 October, and offboarding completes on 31 October. Any futures position still open is closed automatically at fair price from 24 October, 00:00 UTC, and remaining assets go to a regulated custodian. MEXC names Bybit EU and Kraken as providers Dutch users can move to. Fiat services for the Netherlands had already been suspended on 20 March 2026.

  1. 20 March 2026
Fiat services for Dutch users are suspended: P2P, bank transfer, fiat deposit and third party payments.

  3. 13 September 2026
    Restrictions begin for batch 2.

Germany and France: what the regulators say

Neither country is on MEXC's own list, but both regulators have warned about it. In Germany, BaFin warned consumers on 19 October 2023 that MEXC offers financial services on mexc.com without the required authorisation. In France, mexc.com has been on the AMF's crypto blacklist since 4 June 2024.

Since 1 July 2026, serving EU clients requires a MiCA license, and MEXC itself cites regulatory developments in the EEA as the reason for its Dutch exit. For spot trading in the EU, the regulated route among our partners is Bybit EU, licensed under MiCA from Austria.

What happens if you use MEXC from a restricted country?

The agreement treats a false location as grounds to close the account. If MEXC determines that you gave false representations of your location or place of residence, it reserves the right to terminate any account immediately and liquidate open positions. The same clause obliges you to tell MEXC as early as possible if you become resident in a Prohibited Jurisdiction.

So a VPN is not a workaround. It produces exactly the false location the clause describes, while your KYC documents show where you live.

What the User Agreement allows when your location is false
  1. 1You register or trade from a Prohibited Jurisdiction
  2. 2MEXC determines that the location or residence you gave is false
  3. 3The account can be terminated immediately
  4. 4Open positions can be liquidated
Your duty

Tell MEXC as early as possible if you become resident in a Prohibited Jurisdiction.

Where MEXC is allowed: what it costs

MEXC charges 0% maker and 0.05% taker on spot, and 0.01% maker and 0.04% taker on futures at the regular tier. That is the lowest standard table of the nine exchanges we cover, and the details are in our MEXC fees guide.

At 5 million USDT of futures volume a month, the taker fee comes to 2,000 USDT. Trade Reclaim returns 30% of every MEXC fee in USDT, 600 USDT on that volume, through your public UID. The current rate is on the MEXC cashback page.

The Trade Reclaim research desk tracks fee schedules, VIP thresholds and market access rules across the 9 exchanges we cover. Every figure here comes from an exchange's own terms or a regulator's own filing, checked on the date of publication, because a rate copied from a comparison site is a rate nobody verified.

Trade Reclaim earns from exchange referrals and shares most of it back to you as cashback. Education, not financial advice.
