Bybit Restricted Countries 2026: The Full List and the UK Exit

Bybit's Platform Terms name 15 Excluded Jurisdictions, and the United Kingdom is on its way out: no new sign ups since 21 September, trading restricted from 21 October 2026. Here is the full list, the countries in transition, and what happens to an account with a false location.

Key takeaways
  • Clause 11.3 of Bybit's Platform Terms, effective 2 September 2026, names 15 Excluded Jurisdictions, including the United States, Canada, Australia, France, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.
  • Bybit's help center list, updated a day earlier, leaves out Australia and France. The terms are the binding text.
  • The UK is leaving: no new registrations since 21 September 2026, trading restricted from 21 October, and bybit.com/en-GB closed from 19 November.
  • EEA residents are moving to Bybit EU, Japanese residents lost access on 22 July 2026, and Brazilian users moved to a local entity on 24 September.
  • A false location lets Bybit terminate the account and liquidate open positions immediately, and charge a 10 USD termination fee.

The quick answer to "which countries does Bybit restrict" has changed three times this year. Japan dropped out in July, the EEA is being moved to Bybit EU, and on 21 September Bybit told UK residents it would stop serving them. The list that decides it is clause 11.3 of the Bybit Platform Terms and Conditions. Here it is in full, with every change that is still in motion.

Which countries does Bybit restrict?

Bybit does not offer services to 15 named Excluded Jurisdictions. Clause 11.3 of the Bybit Platform Terms and Conditions, effective 2 September 2026, lists Australia, the United States, the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, France, North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Uzbekistan, the Russian controlled regions of Ukraine, Sevastopol, Sudan and Syria, "or any other jurisdictions" Bybit decides to add.

The same clause also excludes Prohibited Parties wherever they live: anyone on the US, EU or UK sanctions lists, companies 50% or more owned by them, and persons in Seychelles other than international business companies. For the United States, the US guide covers the clause in detail.

  • Hong Kong
  • Singapore
  • Canada
  • France
  • North Korea
  • Cuba
  • Iran
  • Uzbekistan
  • Russian controlled regions of Ukraine (Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk)
  • Sevastopol
  • Sudan
  • Syria

Why the help center list is different

Bybit publishes two lists, and they do not match: the terms add Australia and France. The Service Restricted Countries page, last updated on 1 September 2026, says it repeats clause 11.3, but its list stops at the 13 entries from before. It also adds two names of its own: Rostov, inside the Ukraine regions entry, and Dubai, for Bybit's Dubai entity only.

When two official texts disagree, the contract wins, and the Platform Terms are the contract every bybit.com user accepts. France is consistent with what happened on the ground: Bybit wound down French accounts after a request from the French regulator AMF, with remaining balances above 10 USDC transferred to Coinhouse. For Australia, Bybit has published no announcement yet, so an Australian account holder should read the current terms before trading.

Bybit is leaving the UK

From 21 October 2026, accounts registered to a UK residency can only withdraw. Bybit's notice of 21 September 2026 stopped new registrations from UK residents with immediate effect. From 21 October, products and services are restricted except crypto withdrawals, fiat withdrawals and Convert Small Balances, users cannot create new orders, and all active trading bots are terminated. On 19 November, bybit.com/en-GB is switched off.

Bybit gives one route out for accounts that are wrongly labelled: a user who is registered with a UK residency but lives elsewhere can upload a proof of address from their actual country of residence before 21 October. Bybit adds that accounts registered with inaccurate residency information stay restricted, so the document has to show where you really live.

Europe, Japan, Brazil and India

Several large markets are not banned but served differently. EEA residents are being moved from bybit.com to Bybit EU, the MiCA licensed entity in Austria, under Bybit's notice of 29 June 2026. Malta is the exception for now, because Bybit EU's license is not yet passported there. What that means for fees and products is in our Bybit EU and MiCA guide.

Japan is closed: Bybit liquidated the remaining positions of Japanese residents on 22 July 2026, as covered in Is Bybit available in Japan? Brazilian users moved to a local Bybit entity on 24 September 2026, with products that are not permitted locally switched off. India is open again since February 2025, after Bybit registered with the Financial Intelligence Unit, covered in Is Bybit available in India?

What happens if you give a false location?

Bybit can terminate the account immediately and liquidate open positions. Clause 11.3 says that if Bybit determines a user "has given false representations of your location or place of residence", it may take any appropriate action, "including termination of any Account immediately and liquidating any open positions." Clause 17.3 adds civil liability and referral to law enforcement for untrue information, and clause 23.5 forbids opening a new account after a termination.

Termination also costs money: Bybit's account termination terms charge a 10 USD fee, and if the balance is smaller, the remaining balance is forfeited. A VPN does not protect against any of this. In its Japan exit, Bybit identified residents through Japanese issued documents, Japanese proof of residence or a Japanese IP address, which is the same information every verified account already holds.

What the Bybit terms allow when your location is false
  1. 1You register or trade from an Excluded Jurisdiction
  2. 2Bybit determines your location or residence was misrepresented
  3. 3Clause 11.3: account terminated, open positions liquidated
  4. 4Termination fee of 10 USD, no new account allowed (clause 23.5)

Where Bybit is allowed: what it costs

Bybit charges 0.02% maker and 0.055% taker on USDT perpetual futures at VIP 0, and 0.10% on spot. The Bybit fee structure lowers futures to 0.018% and 0.04% at VIP 1, which needs 10,000,000 USD of 30 day derivatives volume or a 100,000 USD balance.

At 5 million USDT of futures volume a month, the VIP 0 taker fee comes to 2,750 USDT. Trade Reclaim returns 30% of every Bybit fee in USDT, which takes the effective taker rate to 0.0385% and returns 825 USDT on that volume. The Bybit fee guide has every tier, and the Bybit page shows the setup.
